Thomas Ernest Travis

Thomas Earnest Travis, of Sacriston, County Durham, England born December 27, 1957, passed on May 31, 2023, at his home in Mobile, Alabama, United States of America. Tom began riding motorcycles in his youth and never lost his love of two- wheeled speed. Most recently Tom used his mechanic education from school, his experience at Kitson Motor Cycles Limited, and personal experience to increase the ability of his three-month-old 2022 Ducati Streetfighter V4 to speeds above the factory performance of 180 miles per hour. Tom began his mechanics career as a motorcycle mechanic for Kawasaki in Newcastle, England. In 1981 Tom joined Technip and spent the next 40 years working in the energy sector. Tom gained knowledge and experience in subsea, offshore, and onshore as a hyperbaric maintenance technician, a dive technician, a pipe laying operations supervisor, a senior offshore supervisor and ultimately, Tom became a Base Superintendent when he finally planted his feet on solid ground in 2005in Mobile, Alabama. Tom set up and managed a fleet repair facility for Technip in Mobile, until 2021. Over the years “Tommy-2-Spanners” built a solid reputation of integrity and long-lasting friendships with coworkers from around the world. Away from work, Tom enjoyed touring, riding (fast), attending concerts and motorcycle events of any kind with his wife Kim. Together they owned K & T Tours, where they planned and executed all types of motorcycle touring trips across Europe. K&T Tours sponsored Damian Rowley, in the 24 Le Mans Motorcycle. Later they formed K&T Transport in the United States delivering all types of materials across the US. Tom was preceded in death by his loving wife Kim (Buchan) Travis, his parents Thomas and Margaret (Makepeace) Travis and his sister Valerie Travis. Tom is survived by his Aunt Bathsheba McDonald of Tyne and Wear, England, and his beloved grandchildren Daniel Brownlee of Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, England, Nicole Brownlee, and Lewis George Brownlee of Cramlington, Newcastle upon Tyne, England. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Serenity Funeral Home, 8691 Old Pascagoula Road, Theodore, Alabama on Saturday, June 24th at 12 pm CST|US.
