Michael Leon Dixon

Michael Leon Dixon, Sr., age 64, born May 30, 1957, a resident of Theodore, AL, passed away December 25, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Julia M. Dixon; daughters, Tammie Brown, Tabitha Clark (Allan), and Tanya Dixon (Robert Loder); son, Michael Dixon II (Amber Angley); grandchildren, Gabrielle Brown, Alexander Brown, Nathan Dixon, Angel Clark, Kristen Clark, Lena Loder, Liam Loder, Lily Loder, Ryan Loder, Daniel Loder, Isabelle Dixon, Noelle Dixon, Troy Strom, and Kevin Strom; and many other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Hellen Dixon; sister, Beth Strom; and grandson, Zachary Clark. Michael Leon Dixon, Sr. worked drywall with his father as a kid. Then he went into the Air Force and retired Sergeant E4 after 20 years in Special Operations, Security Police. After retirement he worked at Wackenhut for a year and then worked as a correctional officer at Metro Jail for almost 7 years. Later in life he took courses and became an ordained minister in 2021. He loved his wife of 42 years and his children but his grandchildren were his life. He enjoyed reading books and always wanting to learn and teach something new. If he wasn't drawing up new blue prints of his dream home and then making models of it, it was learning new things in architect. He learned how to play the harmonica, guitar, calligraphy, art, and even learning to whittle and more. He read his Bible every night and loved God with all his heart. He taught his kids and grandkids self-defense so they could always protect themselves and stand tall. He even taught courses at the jail on how to use the Asp baton and self-defense and hand-on-hand so the other correctional officers could get certified. Michael Leon Dixon, Sr. was one of the safest, slowest drivers ever until you needed him; he wouldn't let anything stop him to get to you as fast as he could. He was our strength, our hero, our rock, and our quiet place. He will live on in our hearts and memories forever. He is gone and will always be missed, but never forgotten. Visitation will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on February 2, 2022 at 11 AM-12 PM, followed by graveside service at 12 PM in Serenity Rest. Afterwards a repast will be at Tillman's Corner Senior Center at 5863 Nevius Rd. Mobile, AL 36619 from 1-5 PM.
