Mary "Annette" Breland Farmer

Mary "Annette" Farmer, age 70, traded all of the sorrow and worries of this life to collect her heavenly reward on January 4, 2019. She died in the comfort of her home, leaving the presence of her loving family as she transitioned to eternal life. She is preceded in death by her son Stephen Dwain Farmer; brother, Ricky Breland; parents, Eurie and Vivian Breland. Annette was devoted to her family and committed to helping others. Her hobbies were caring for a variety of flowers and plants and attending to their herd of family pets. She had a fervent passion for thrift-store shopping. Those that knew her was privy to this one fact: If you couldn’t find some random item that you needed from the store—she likely had it. If she had what you were looking for, it was yours. This led to the nickname “Granny Walmart,” by her grandchildren. Along with her husband, Annette was a member of Theodore United Methodist Church where she was active in The Women’s Circle Group. She also assisted at Tillman’s Corner Baptist Church, preparing food—as a part of the Wednesday evening ministry. Annette was born in McLain, Miss.,in July of 1948. As a child, she dedicated her life to Jesus Christ and was baptized at Buffalo Baptist Church (located in Mississippi). Annette attended Beaumont High School, near McLain, and later graduated from Jackson County Community College. She entered into Holy Matrimony with Kenneth Dwain Farmer, at West Side United Methodist Church, in Mobile, Ala., on February 28,1970. Together they resided and raised their two children, Steve and Shelley, in Mobile—later moving to Theodore, Ala. She is survived by her devoted husband Kenneth Farmer of Theodore; loving daughter Shelley (Corey) Biggs of Theodore; adoring grandchildren, Paxton Farmer of Mobile, Corbyn and Olyvia Biggs, Tyde, Riaen and Kinleigh McElvoy; two close friends, Barbara Walker of Irvington and Laura Vaughn of Semmes. Annette leaves behind nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. A Celebration of her life, will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 12 p.m. from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
