Mary Carolyn Doan

Mary Carolyn Doan passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at The Retreat Hospice by SAAD in Mobile, Alabama, at the age of 81. Born on October 19, 1943, in Blakely Island, AL, she was the cherished daughter of late Kermit Davis and Jewell Rodgers. Carolyn was a warm and selfless woman whose life revolved around caring for others. She raised four children and many grandchildren with unwavering love and devotion. Beyond her immediate family, countless others were nurtured by her kind and generous spirit. Her only priority in life was the well-being of her family and friends, always placing their needs above her own. Professionally, Carolyn dedicated herself to serving as a personal caregiver for the elderly, offering compassion and support to those in need. Prior to this role, she worked as a waitress and spent over two decades as a homemaker, creating a loving home for her family. Carolyn’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and selflessness—a life lived in service to others. Those who knew her will forever remember her gentle heart and the profound impact she had on their lives. She is survived by her brothers David Hilry Davis of Centreville, VA, Billy Warren Doggett, Leonard "Butch" Lindsey (Dean) of Olive Branch, MS and sister Debra Day Blake of Clovis, CA. Children Perry Jefferson McCoy, Jr. (Denise)of Troy, MI, Lisa McCoy Weaver, Michelle Marie Jones, Chrissy McCoy, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Special mention to two of her dearest friends Nikki Armstrong (Grand Bay, AL) and Marja Woods (Jim) Monroe, MI In addition, Carolyn left behind to cherish her memory Grandchildren, Daniel Perry McCoy, Chelsea Lynn McCoy (Billy) Leighton,Rebecca Sue McCoy, Mary Elise Weaver, Kelsey Nicole Weaver, Candace Lynn Weaver, Jacob Clements Weaver, Dillon Mitchell McCoy, Zackery Ellis Jones, Olivia Jewell Jones, Tyler Cain Allen, Kaitlyn Nicole Allen, Kristen Elizabeth Allen, Brayden Matthew McCoy and her Great Grandchildren Carter McCoy, Raelyn, Lyric, & Holden, Leighton, Addie & Hudson Constable, Royce Allen and Saylah Elaine Watson She was preceded by the loss of her parents David Kermit Davis and Mamie Jewell Rodgers, her siblings, Julius McArthur Davis (Mary) and Marcia "Elaine" Davis Faggard (Eddie), Deloris Cardwell, Irene Tillman, Joanne Bentley, Esther Ruth Lane and Ella Fauver and special Niece Shirley Turner. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at a 10:00 am at Woodridge Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, to honor Carolyn’s memory and the love she shared with so many. May her memory bring comfort to all who were touched by her care and devotion.
