Juanita "Nita" Bahr

Juanita (Nita) Waters Bahr, 75, passed away surrounded by loved ones on October 4, 2023, in Mobile, AL. Nita was born in Mobile on July 17, 1948, and has lived in Mobile and nearby Theodore for her entire life except one year in Michigan. Nita’s life was one of doing caring deeds with great love for those in her life of all ages. Her unwavering devotion was so evident in the decades of selfless care she passionately gave from her heart. Nita was adamant that her wishes to be an organ donor to help others be complied with. She loved Diet Coke, cooking and entertaining and was known for her Alabama football (A little sassy, classy and a tad badassy) and holiday/birthday celebrations. Her seafood gumbo cannot be topped, and it was often referred to as the best of the best because it was made with pure love! Nita treasured their many travels, vacations on sunny beaches, and lots of times together celebrating Mardi Gras in downtown Mobile making and strengthening friendships with the Camper City Crew. Nita is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lawrence Dale Bahr; her adorable Sweetie; a son, Kevin Brown; daughter-in-law, Kristin Murzyn; one grandson, Spencer Brown; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Brown, all of Katy, TX; one sister, Deborah Waters Caudle, of Mobile, AL; one very special nephew, Jason Whiddon, of Fairhope, AL, whom she loved just as much as a son, along with his wife, Heather; nephews Kevin Waters in Texas, Stephen Waters in Tennessee; Uncle Donny Parnell (Charlotte) and cousins David, Michael, and Chris Parnell, Anthony (Gabrielle) and daughter, Andrea, Tommy Smith; Betty, Alton, Ruth, Ronnie, and Jimmy Harvison; Linda Wall, Sue Gartman; Diane, Byron, Judy, Becky and Dessie Clark; Aunt Geneva; cousins Cathy, Karen and Sandra Parnell, and Stephanie, Rachel and Vanessa Parnell; Nelta, Maurica, H. L., and Timothy Cooley. Preceding her in death were her beloved Joe Cain and Sparkles, her parents, Horace Waters and Faye Parnell Waters Howell, two brothers, Robert and Richard Waters, three uncles, Joel, Bud, and Jerry Parnell, four aunts, Dee Harvison, Dorothy Clark, Louise Cooley and Marjorie Smith, nephews, Benny Mosely, Robert Waters, and niece, Christina Waters Simmons, and cousins, Janet and Michelle Smith, Brenda Harvison and Wayne Cooley. On Larry’s side of the family, she continues to be loved by Uncle Bill Bradford (Billie) (children, Leigh, Jeff, and Bethany); John (Vicki) Mackey, (children, John III (Joanne and family), Marc (Caroline and family) and Tasha Carle (Tim). Jim Mackey, Joel Mackey (children, Emma and Abby), and Sherry Ronning (Randy) (children, Lexie and Callie) (children of Jim and Barb Mackey, deceased, child John Mackey also deceased). Dennis Mackey (Diane) (children, Allison and Kyle). Jean Peterson, children Kristie Kelsey (Scott) (children Brittany, Hannah, and Autumn), Dawn Peterson (children Jacob and Issac), Rob Peterson (Jessica) (children Ali and Blake). Don Bahr (children Greg (Tracy and family) Dale (Mayet) (children Calista and Isabella), Steve (Leah and family). Bob Mackey (child, Amanda Schram (Bob) (child Emma). Jan Long (Ron) (children Morgan (child Serena) and Vanessa Woodard (Tim) (children Natalie and Laila). Barb Smoot (Dave) (child Andrea Cassell (Nick) (children, Keller and Willa). And Dave Bahr. Special friends Angelia Connor, Karen Nelson, Jane and Butch Adams, and Susan and Rodney Carter, Joe McMillan and Milton Sims, Brian and Dawn Boutwell and their son Reece, Tim Crosby, Stoney and Erin Boatman, Kevin and Pam Hileman, Angie Whiddon, James and Katrina Bryant, Mary Lasseter and her sons Marty (deceased) and Matt, and Mary Bryant Daniels and Mary Redell (both deceased), Bob and Sylvia Figgers, Louis and Stephanie Barna, Jennifer Murzyn and Johnathon, and Maie Murzyn. She leaves behind numerous other family members and a long list of friends she treasured like family that loved her dearly and are forever grateful for their many memorable times that she shared with them. In lieu of funeral services, she asked family and loved ones to gather for a special celebration of life at the Ice Box Restaurant in Downtown Mobile (one of her favorite “get away spots”) for the Iron Bowl on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A graveside inurnment will be held at Serenity Memorial Gardens cemetery on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Loved ones wanting to pay their respects at the gravesite can meet in Serenity Memorial Gardens, Victory Garden, near the Mausoleum.
