James Martin Chancellor

James Chancellor, 45 of Mobile, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at USA Medical Center in Mobile. Funeral services will be Friday August 4, 2023, at 2pm with visitation prior from 12-2pm at Serenity Gardens Funeral Home 8691 Old Pascagoula Rd Mobile. Al 36619 Burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens. Born in Thomasville, Al in 1978, James was the 4th child born to Carol Chancellor and the late Rev. Fred Chancellor. With his sisters and brother being a good bit older, they all took turns spoiling him from a young age. In 1982 James and his family moved to Laurel, MS where he would live most of his teenage years. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Laurel and started school at St. John Day School. He graduated from the Arnold school in Mobile. He graduated from University of Montevallo with a degree in Social Services. James worked for many years with Kentwood water that allowed him to meet many people on his routes. He never met a stranger and tried to help and witness to anyone he came in contact with. His last few years he worked with Ecolab where he had the same opportunities. James always said to everyone “God Bless you and have a good day” and checked on his mother daily. He was active in Dayspring Baptist Church. In 2oo9 he married the love of his life, Tasha. He considered his greatest accomplishment in his life was being the best Papa he could be to his children. James is preceded in death by his father, Rev. Fred Chancellor of Laurel, his grandparents, James and Etta Chancellor of Moss, MS, and Woodrow and Allene Martin of Vossburg, MS He is survived by his wife, Tasha Chancellor; his son Piers Chancellor; his daughters Destin Tidwell (Hunter), Abbygail Chancellor and Regan Chancellor; his mother, Carol Chancellor Landrum; his brother, Bill Chancellor (Sandra); his sisters, Sharon Devine (Ed), Krisha Smith, (Robby) and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, accounts have been set up to benefit the children as James would have wanted.
