Ida Jane Demouey

Ida lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and deep devotion to those she loved. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing along the riverbanks for brim and catfish, walking along the beach, and watching the sun set in quiet reflection. But above all, her greatest love was her family. She cherished the special moments spent with her loved ones—getting her hair cut by her niece Garnette, hosting holiday gatherings, and creating cherished memories during family reunions. Visits from Clarissa and her family always brought her joy, and she took great pride in every conversation, every shared laugh, and every hug with family and friends. Ida was a deeply caring soul whose love extended beyond blood ties. She had a special bond with her Goodwill coworkers, many of whom she considered family. Her dear friend Chantal and Chantal’s husband, Vern, held a treasured place in her heart. Ida leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unity. She taught her family the true meaning of connection, of being there for one another, and of celebrating each moment together. Ida is survived by her beloved husband, Floyd E. Demouey; her siblings, Stephen Mayfield, Glenn Mayfield (Cynthia), Karen Ray (Jimmy), Norma Jean Hughes, and Kathy Ladnier (Joe); and her children, Deedee Pruett (Keith), Richard Demouey, Charlie Demouey (Crystal), Danny Demouey (Rhonda), and Darrin Demouey (Cristina). She was a proud grandmother to Malcolm, Daniel Jr., Lareesia, Justin, Dylan, Jay, Lizzy, Brittney, Brandi, Breana, Christopher, and Clint; and a devoted great-grandmother to Saylor Mae, Aubrey, Libby, Mary Jane, Devin, Thomas, Jayce, Emma, Trace, Dayton, Zoey, Adelynn, Cohen, Brennan, Landon, Jaxson, and Chloe. Ida also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews who were touched by her warmth and generosity. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilmer and Vera Mayfield. A graveside service to honor and celebrate Ida’s life will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM at W. R. Clark Memorial Cemetery, Fort Lakes Road, Moss Point, MS 39562, where she will be laid to rest. Ida’s spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her life was a beautiful testament to love, family, and enduring strength.
