Edwin "Eddie" Louis Rumpf, III

Eddie was born on Sept. 27, 1955, in Mobile, AL, to Edwin “Ed” Rumpf Jr. and Myrtle Bosarge Rumpf. On June 19, 2025, at the age of 69, he was called home to be with our Heavenly Father. Eddie was a graduate of Alba High School class of 1973. He attended Troy State, then he began working for his father at Specialty Contractors and Associates. Eddie soon discovered his love for trucking. He partnered with his father Ed to create E&E Distributers. Eddie owned and operated his company until his death. For over 40 years Eddie hauled loads ranging from produce to seafood all over the United States. He prided himself in being dependable and dedicated to delivering his freight. He was also known for driving well-maintained and show-stopping trucks. Eddie made many lifelong friends during his 40-year career. He was also a loving family man. One of Eddie’s greatest joys was his Sunday night dinners with his family and close friends. Every Sunday night without fail, Eddie would prepare dinner for his daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. He often said Sunday was his favorite day of the week. It was a time when he was able to sit down with everyone and learn what was happening in their lives. He loved to joke around and play with his grandchildren. Eddie has left many treasured memories for his family; trips to his beloved Colorado house, Christmas vacations to Gatlinburg, pool parties, and countless Sunday dinners. Eddie dearly loved his family and was very proud of every one of them. Eddie also left us his testimony of salvation and his love for Jesus Christ. Because of this, we know he is with our Lord and Savior. That gives us the comfort and peace of knowing we will one day see him again in Heaven. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and sister Jane Rumpf Dennis. He is survived by his daughters, Lora (Alton) Knight of Theodore, AL; Elizabeth (James) Endres of Irvington, AL; Victoria (David) VanCleave of Mobile, AL, and Jenna Garrison of Ocean Springs, MS; and nine grandchildren- Alton Knight Jr., Ashton Knight, and Amber Knight, all of Theodore, AL; Coby Endres and Aislynn Endres of Irvington, AL; Cooper VanCleave and Livy VanCleave of Mobile, AL; and Gabrielle Drews and Grayson Drews of Ocean Springs, MS. All services will be held at Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore, AL. Visitation will be on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 5 to 8 pm. The funeral will be on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 10 am. Interment will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery. Pallbearers are Alton Knight Sr., David VanCleave, Alton Knight Jr., Daniel Scarcliff, Dale Cain, and Randy Barbour.
