Dusty Scott Rhodes

Dusty Scott Rhodes, born on January 2nd 1988 was called to his heavenly home Sunday April 16th 2023. Dusty was 35 years young. Born to Late Scott Rhodes and Judith Rice Rhodes of Mobile, Al where he was raised and spent most of his life. Dusty was a loving father, son, brother, friend and veteran of the US Army. He attended Theodore High school where he made many friends throughout the years. Dusty joined the US military in 2008 and ended up later, marrying his high school sweet heart in 2009 who he always loved very much. Gaining a step son, Hunter Lane Walker and having two daughters together; Hailey Jane in 2009 and Hallie Rae in 2014. Dusty completed Basic training in Fort Sill, OK and AIT in Fort Gordon, Ga. Soon after, departed for his first year long tour in Iraq under Operation Iraqi Freedom. A part of the 82nd Airborne division and then the 50th signal battalion in Fort Bragg, NC. Dusty soon after, completed his second tour to Iraq; Operation New Dawn. After serving 5 years to his Country, Dusty received an honorable discharge. Following his time in the service, he attended college for many years on and off, often changing his path because he took an interest to so many different things. In 2016, he and his family moved back to Mobile where he became a letter carrier for the US Postal service. For seven years, he brought smiles to many faces along his mail routes and many looked forward to seeing him. Dusty was a kind and genuine person with many interests and passions. He loved learning, reading and absorbing as much knowledge as he could and would spend countless hours researching and taking in as much as possible. Science, history, space and religion were among his favorite studies. One thing was for certain; he wanted to help others and know as much as he could. Among his many passions, music was one that often lead Dusty. He loved rock music and was very knowledgeable about the history of rock and his favorite bands. He had a passion for and was very talented at playing the guitar and his family could sit and listen to him play for hours. His favorite guitarist was late Randy Rhoads of Black Sabbath. He also enjoyed gospel music and shared this love with his youngest daughter, Hallie. During the last few years, him and the mother of his children parted and remained friends. He then began a relationship with Joanna Ryals of Mobile, Al whom he deeply cared for. She encouraged him to become closer to God and he started attending church often. Joanna unexpectedly passed, leaving Dusty to want to honor her encouragements of living through Christ even more so. Dusty then started spreading the gospel every where he went. Teaching his children and family and friends about the word of Christ. During his final days, he attended Light house baptist church in Theodore, Al. Going to church was one of his favorite things to do and meant a lot to bring his children along on Sundays and grab a bite to eat afterwards. This was something they all looked forward to. Dusty always had his Bible with him and truly believed in and was passionate about our Lord. He was such an inspiration and encouragement to others and always took his time to talk or explain anything concerning religion for anyone who felt lost. He was always there for others and truly cared about his family and friends. Dusty is and will be greatly missed by so many people. His children; whom he loved more than words could say and whom he was so very proud of. His mother Judith Rhodes, grandmother, Judith Rice brother; Tommy Colvin and sisters; Kristee and Kalee Rhodes. His many nieces and nephews. Uncles, aunts, cousins. We know that Dusty is with our Lord and we will see him again one day. Rest easy American Dream.
