Douglas Adrian Goodrum, Sr. “Dookie”, 79 of Grand Bay, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025. Born on November 18, 1945, in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. Douglas lived a life rooted in devotion to family, service to his country, and enduring strength of character. Douglas proudly served in the United States Navy, exemplifying a deep commitment to his nation. His time in the military was a defining chapter of his life and reflected the values he carried throughout his years—honor, duty, and resilience. He was a beloved husband of nearly 60 years to Rita Sprinkle Goodrum and a devoted father to Sarah Goodrum; Douglas “Bubba” Goodrum, Jr. and his wife, Marie and Sandra Lannie and her husband Scott. His legacy continues through his grandchildren; Shaun Goodrum (Alexis), Elizabeth Harvey (Jeffrey), Ashlynne Povilonis (Dillon), Carlie Goodrum, Scott Alex Lannie, Jackson Lannie, Dawson Lannie, Mallorie Lannie, Danya Herring (Nick), Austin Bosarge (Hannah), and Caden Trefren. He also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren; Sean Michael Goodrum, Emma Claire Goodrum, Ella Cate Goodrum, Jeffrey “William” Harvey, III, Henry Povilonis, Alexandria Harrell, Braidon Harrell, Hadley Herring and Levi Herring. Douglas’s family circle extended with love to include his daughter-in-law, Denise Goodrum; his sister, Barbara Goodrum Seward; his aunt, Sue Hill; uncle, Charlie Beritiech; sisters-in-law, Abbey Johnson Goodrum and Mary Ellen Goodrum; brother-in-law, Claude “Frenchy” Wynant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marian “Tee-Tee” Goodrum; grandparents, Erie and Sadie Harbison and Preston and Gertrude Goodrum; as well as siblings Randall Goodrum, Matilda Goodrum Wynant and Joseph Goodrum, Sr. Douglas Adrian Goodrum, Sr.’s memory will love on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his legacy bring comfort to all who mourn his passing. A funeral will be held on May 30, 2025 at 2:00 PM with visitation starting at 1:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 8691 Old Pascagoula Road in Theodore. Interment will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shaun Goodrum, Sean Michael Goodrum, Scott Alex Lannie, Jackson Lannie, Dawson Lannie, Jeffrey Harvey, Dillon Povilonis and Richy Seward. Honorary Pallbearers: Bubby Goodrum, Scott Lannie, Brent Clarke, Steve Bosarge, Calvin Pritchett, Calvin Harbison and Darren Hill.
