Connie Elaine Peters

Connie Elaine (Johnson) Peters completed her life’s journey on June 5, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on January 15, 1957, in Heron Bay, Alabama, Connie was a lifelong resident of South Mobile County. Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Edward Peters Sr.; her father, Thomas W. Johnson; and her brother, Eric Johnson. She is survived by her mother, Margaret Banks; her children: Carl Edward “Junior” (Adrienne) Peters Jr., Joseph “JoJo” (Samantha) Peters, Cassie Peters, and Joe “Rebel” (Mariah) Johns; her grandchildren: Tyler Peters, Christian Peters, Tarrah Peters, Kelsey Lightfoot, William Lightfoot, Timothy Neilsen Jr., Macee Nielsen, Tracy Neilsen, Crimson Peters, Jonah Beers, Joe “Little Rebel” Johns, Jr., and Parker Johns; and her great-grandchildren, Ava Bowers, Leighton Nielsen, and Ophelia Jameson. She is also survived by her sisters, Alice Johnson, Charlene Wilkerson, Cindy Davidson; her longtime partner, Travis Barnes Sr.; his children, with whom she shared a special bond, Travis “Chip” (Melanie) Barnes Jr., Bryan (Debra) Barnes, and Nicole Barnes; and their children Taris Barnes, Caliegh Barnes, Debron Barnes, Chatille Barnes, Anthony Barber Jr, Hannah Barber, Madison Barber, and Hailey Barber whom she considered her grandchildren. Connie leaves behind cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and two precious dogs, Boo and Miss Ceily. Connie was a devout Christian, deeply loved by God, and a cherished member of The Father’s House church in Bayou La Batre. She also attended Heron Bay Baptist Church in Heron Bay, Alabama. Connie achieved her GED and furthered her education by attending trade school, where she specialized in cosmetology. Following the unexpected passing of her husband, Connie shifted her focus to the upbringing of her children, navigating the challenges of single parenthood with determination and resilience. Connie was deeply devoted to her family and friends, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Her generosity knew no bounds as she willingly shared what she had and expressed genuine concern for everyone around her. Connie took immense pride in her children and grandchildren, finding joy in their accomplishments and cherishing the moments spent together. She found solace in reaching out to others in times of distress, offering comfort, support, and heartfelt prayers both for and with them. Holidays were especially dear to her as she gathered with loved ones to create cherished memories that she held close to her heart. Connie will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by those who knew and loved her. A celebration of Connie’s life will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 2:30 at Heron Bay Baptist Church located at 4365 Heron Bay Loop South in Heron Bay. The family invites everyone to food and fellowship after the service at the Church’s gathering hall. Those wishing to contribute a dish should bring it to the hall prior to the service. Internment services will be held at a later date.
