Betty Anne Owens

Our beloved matriarch, Betty Ann (Harrell) Owens, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 8, 2024. No one fought harder or loved deeper than Betty Ann. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Joseph A. Owens Jr.; her parents, Ray Q. Harrell and Bessie L. Walker; and her siblings, Charles Lee Harrell, Brenda Diane Tillman, Ray Cain Harrell Sr. and Wanda Kay Nolan. She was born and raised in Mobile. She is survived by her two brothers, Joseph Michael Harrell and Bhron Cate; two sons, Joseph "Joe" A. Owens III (Robin) and Miles "Bo" Patrick Owens (Tiffany); three grandsons, Joseph “Joey” E. Owens, Ryan Patrick Owens (Haley) and Patrick Matthew Owens (Lindsey); two great grandsons, Luke Owens, son of Joey Owens and Dean Owens, son of Ryan Owens; along with several nieces, nephews and other loved ones. As she had been homebound for the past few years, she treasured her daily conversations and visits from those closest to her; like her cousin Sandra and Reggie Jones; her niece Angela Greer and brother, Bhron Cate. The family would like to acknowledge a special person that has been living with Bo, Tiffany and Betty for many years. Emesey Laskey known to us that love him as E.J. has done so much for Betty that to call him a God send would be the only words that would fit. Beginning years ago when he would go shopping with her in the middle of the night to keep her safe, up to the end of her days where he would assist her in her saying her prayers when she was not well enough to finish them on her own and countless more moments in between. She loved her family most of all. She had a very close relationship with the Lord and would begin and end each day with prayer, listing everyone in the family each time she prayed. She was well loved and adored by all and will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore, AL. A Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery. A reception will be held afterwards, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Jim Barnes Enterprises, 6110 Grelot Rd. Mobile, AL, for those who would like to attend.
