Alysia D.K. Stewart

With heavy hearts and fond memories, we announce the passing of Alysia D. K. Stewart, aged 34, born January 13, 1989. She was a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama and departed from this world peacefully at her residence on October 26, 2023. Alysia had an exceptional way of connecting with people, an aura if you will. She also had an open heart for animals, turning her home into a refuge for all kinds of strays. This says a lot about her, her compassion, and her spirit. Her battle with diabetes wasn't something she ever hid. It was a part of her life journey, molding her into someone who could empathize deeply with others. This struggle didn't just make her strong; it seasoned her soul, making her wisdom ring true beyond her years. You could even say she was an old soul in that regard. Outside of these struggles, Alysia lived her life with purpose and meaning. You could often spot her and Hayden at Longhorn, enjoying quality mother-son time. She was also actively involved at Hayden’s school, becoming a pillar of that community. Family traditions were big for Alysia, especially when it came to Hayden. Halloween was their standout favorite, with matching costumes that turned heads and warmed hearts. The same went for Christmas, where their tradition of wearing identical pj’s had become a sweet staple of the season. Her relationship with her mother, Sonja, was intricate yet beautiful. They were each other's best friends and fiercest critics, a relationship that was full of love, challenge, and unwavering support. She took the path less traveled by, seeking a brief moment of something truly wonderful, rather than settling for a lifetime of nothing special. And in doing so, she gave us all a lesson in what it means to live and love fearlessly. She was preceded in death by a son, Avery Stewart and grandmother, Carolyn Stewart. She is survived by her son, Hayden Stewart; her husband, Chase Hume; her mother, Sonja Stewart; uncles, Gregory (Lori) Stewart, Charles (Kim) Stewart; cousins, Amber (Jason) Horton, Brandon (Katy) Rhode, Rachael (Kyle) Benton, Tessy (Jed) Lambert, Taylor (Blake) Stork, Jon Tyler Stewart, Layla Stewart, Cameron Horton, Caleb Horton, Brheannon Horton and Jaydon Horton. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home, 8691 Old Pascagoula Rd., Mobile, AL 36619. The visitation will be held from 12 o'clock noon until the service time. Interment will follow in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
