He was preceded in death by his sons, Richard Daniel Thompson, Sr. and George Edward Thompson, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce L. Thompson; daughter, Joyce Elizabeth McGowin; grandchildren, Daniel Thompson, Tiffany Wescovich, David A. McGowin, and Sherry L. McGowin; great-grandchildren, Bo Wescovich, Jacob McGowin, and Macy McGowin; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. He enjoyed gardening, working in his flower bed, driving his tractor, working with equipment, and enjoyed fishing as well.
