Verbu Tyrone Nix

Verbu Tyrone Nix was a lifelong resident of Mobile, AL. He was called home to be with the Lord at age 79 on Saturday, June 8, 2024. He was a graduate of Murphy High school in 1963. From there he pursued a long 50-year career as a seaman and loved traveling the world. During his career he achieved the position of a Chief Engineer and was a proud sea loving sailor. Verbu "Nick" Tyrone Nix is preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Ruth Nix; father, Oliver Lonnie Nix; and his soul mate; Rose Maria Nix. He is survived by his daughter, Vonda Ann Williamson (Joe); son, Archie Tyrone Nix (Kimberly); and 4 grandchildren Nicholas Williamson, Catherine Williamson, Mariah Nix and Brett Nix. His beloved sister Victoria "Vickie" Scully (Dennis). One niece, Dawn Burke (Tim); two nephews, Shane Young and Ryan Scully (Brandy) and three great niece and nephews. He attended Robert E. Lee Elementary and was known as a Galvez Park kid, for the Galvez Park where he spent numerous hours with his sister and friends. Nick loved the ocean and loved to fish, he also loved to build and fly kites. Nick never met a stranger and loved his city. He was known to call Mobile "my town" and loved to attend Mardi Gras with his soul mate. Nick and Rose loved life and had many adventures together and was known to pack a tent in his VW and had to the campground. We have some very fond memories of camping at Gulf State Park and fishing and sailing his sailboat in the lake. Nick would fish anywhere and loved anything to do with catching all types of sea food. Our hearts are broken but we know he is now in heaven with his soul mate and his parents. I am sure he is looking for a good fishing hole and most likely meeting with old friends. A visitation for Verbu "Nick" Tyrone Nix will be held Friday, June 14, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 8691 Old Pascagoula Rd., Theodore, AL 36582, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Verbu will be laid to rest in Serenity Memorial Gardens. please feel free to wear casual fishing shirts or something tropical. As Nick loved the beach and everything about that lifestyle.
