Sue "Sherri" Vickery Adams

Sherri Vickery Adams, 79, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at her home in Mobile surrounded by her loving family. Sherri is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Cary Michael Adams, and four children: Mr. Michael Adams, Mr. Steven Adams, Dr. David Adams (Mary Katherine), and Mrs. Laurie Bosshard (Michael). She is also survived by six loving grandchildren: Anna Adams, Katie Adams, James Adams, Lilly Adams, Matthew Bosshard, and Leah Bosshard. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Schaeffer Vawter, and stepfather, Vilas V. Vawter Jr. Sherri was raised in both Mobile and Memphis, graduating from East High School in Memphis. She attended Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis), where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was named Miss Memphis State and represented her school in the Miss Tennessee pageant in 1966. In 1962 she met the love of her life, Cary Adams of Mobile. They married in 1967. Together they built a home filled with love and laughter. She was the bookkeeper for his dental practice for 30 years. Sherri poured her love into family and friends, baking her sought-after cookies and coconut pound cakes as well as making special dishes for family and friends. Her passion was to spend time with her grandchildren, visiting their schools and reading to their classes. She loved to dress in holiday costumes and spend time with her grandchildren and their classmates. Sherri was a devout Catholic, which provided her with strength in her brave fight against cancer.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or your favorite charity. The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey George, Dr. William Porr, the nursing staff at USA Providence, Deb Robinson, Bernetta Timmons, and Joe & Ann Bradley for all the love and gentle care they provided. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 26th, 2025, at 10:00am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 3704 Springhill Avenue, Mobile, Alabama. Visitation will precede the Mass at 9am in the Parish Hall, and a reception will follow the Mass in the Marian Center. Interment will be at 2pm, Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spanish Fort.
