Scott Allen Place Sr.

Scott Allen Place Sr., also known as “Scotty, Skizz, Bones, Sak, John-eeee, Captain Scotty”, a beloved husband, father and pawpaw, peacefully entered into Heaven’s gates at the age of 60 on April 7, 2025 at his home surrounded by family after losing a short lived battle to cancer. He was born October 31, 1964 in Aransas Pass, Texas to late Francis Josephine Sprinkle and Blake Louis Place Sr. then moved to Bayou La Batre, Alabama where he attended Alba School until deciding to follow the family legacy of mending shrimp nets. With his love for the water and outdoors, he then became a successful commercial shrimper and lastly enjoyed being a leverman with the dredging industry. Scott was the devoted husband of Carla G. Place (Gulley) for 34 years. They married on April 12, 1991, and built a beautiful life together, filled with love and cherished memories. There is nothing he loved more than FAMILY. He was a lover of singing and music ranging from Merle Haggard all the way to Snoop Dogg. He was an avid Alabama and Saints football fan. He also enjoyed watching the races, throwing the cast net, boxing, “Going West”, Farkle, playing the air guitar, small mechanical repairs, and lawn care. Beloved memories included many family gatherings, bar-b-ques, shrimp boils, bonfires, GRANNY BIRDIE and Papa Lawrence, and many many more cherished times. He is preceded in death by his parents and older brother Blake Louis Place Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Carla; sons Scott Allen Place Jr. and Michael Place; daughter Blakley Place; Step-sons Jasper Johnson, Wesley Johnson, and John Johnson; grand-children Madison Place, Jaslynn Place, Hannah Irwin, Cory Carl, Tyler Place, Zoey Johnson, Hayden Johnson, Cameron Place, Bentley Johnson, Jaylynn Johnson, Gavin Place, Lilly Johnson, Brody Place, and Blake Place; siblings Frances Collier (Place), Cindy Kaempfer (Place), Vickie Tompkins (Place); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Scott will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 2025, at St. Michaels Church Hall in Coden, Alabama at 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at St. Michael's Church Hall at 1:00 PM with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Bayou la Batre. Until we meet again, daddy, I Love You
