Sandra Paulette Herston

With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of our beloved Sandra Paulette Herston, a lifelong Mobile, Alabama native, who was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 20, 2025. She passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by love, after a courageous 10-year battle with breast cancer. She faced every challenge with courage, unwavering faith, and a strength that inspired everyone who knew her. Born on June 24, 1957, Sandra was the true embodiment of grace, love, and compassion. She was a light in every life she touched, strong, kind, and endlessly giving. Even in the most difficult moments, her spirit never faltered. Her faith never wavered, and her love never ran dry. She loved deeply, gave generously, and lived her life in a way that reminded us all of what truly matters. To know Sandra was to feel truly seen and deeply cared for. Sandra shared 38 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband and sweetheart, Stephen Herston. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was a proud and deeply loving mother to Adam (Melissa) and Chelsea (Damion), and her greatest joy came in her role as “Ganna” to her precious grandchildren: Brentley, Jesse, Nora, Eli, and Xavier. They were the light of her life, and she filled theirs with warmth, wisdom, and endless hugs. Sandra was the heart of her family, the glue that held everyone close, the person everyone turned to, and the one who made every gathering feel like home. She lived to serve and uplift others, and her gentle spirit touched countless lives. She was a nurturing sister, confidant, and best friend to Sheila, Sylvia, and Susan, a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, and a devoted daughter. Her family was her world, and she poured every ounce of her love into ensuring their happiness and well-being. She will forever be remembered for her infectious smile, her generous spirit, and her extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcome, loved, and safe. Sandra lived her life with open arms and an open heart. She was, in every sense, grace in human form. To know Sandra was to know kindness. Sandra is preceded in death by her mother Pauline Hadley; father Carol Stapleton; stepfather Tuney Hadley; sister Sherry Stapleton; mother-in-law Dorothy Herston; and father-in-law Virgil Herston. She is now reunited with them in eternal peace. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sandra’s life on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Serenity Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a graveside ceremony to follow. Sandra’s legacy of faith, strength, and unconditional love will live on in all who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer with us in body, her beautiful spirit will forever shine in our hearts.
