Robert Ray House

Robert R. House 1947 – 2024 No matter where he was greeted and asked how he was doing, he always responded, “Not too bad for 32.” He could often be found making his evening rounds which consisted of riding around Bayou La Batre and Coden Beach and paying visits to his family and friends. Robert R. House, age 77, of Coden, Alabama, answered his call to the Lord peacefully on December 26, 2024. He was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1947 to David and Dorothy House, where he spent the first 18 years of his life. The day after his 18th birthday, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served in the Vietnam War from 1965-1969. His final rank in the Navy was 3rd class Petty Officer. He was definitely a proud Veteran of the United States Navy and took great pride in wearing his “Proud to be a Veteran” Hat. It made his day to hear someone say, “Thank you for your service.” In 1970, he became a “Daddy” to a baby girl who has had him wrapped around her little finger for 54 years. For the last few years, this Daddy –Daughter team has conquered some obstacles, laughed, fussed, and made many memories that will forever be held dear. Though he loved life dearly, his favorite role was that of being a “Poppa.” He treasured his time with the grand kids and the great grand kids. He had a love for furry friends, treating them like valuable family members. His one true companion has been his cat “Huey” who misses him dearly. Huey was his inspiration and motivation and making sure Huey had food and snacks was top priority. Poppa will always be remembered for his unexpected visits as he would pull up in the driveway and toot the car horn until someone came out. He was also know to make a joke or two no matter who he was talking to. On Monday and Wednesday nights he was surely to check in on his Bayou Boot Camp Family where he even had his own t-shirt that said, “Boot Camp Daddy.” He was loved by everyone and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him. He was preceded in death by his first love, Patricia Collier House, his mother, Dorothy House, father, David House, and only brother, Donald House, all of Pennsylvania. He is survived by his faithful companion - Huey the cat. Daughter - Tammy House-Collier (Tony). Grand-sons – Cody Brown (Mallorie), Camden Brown (Farrah), Grand-daughter - Brianna Brown. Great Grandchildren – Maddie, Braylee, Mylee, Anzly, and Jansen Brown. Nephew – Patrick Collier and Jacob Collier. Niece – Cindy House Mahoney (John). Sarah and Rachael. Extended Family Member – Tammie Rae Charles Allen (Brad) Services will be held on December 30, 2024 at Serenity Funeral Home. 8691 Old Pascagoula Road, Theodore, Alabama 36582 Visitation for family will be from 8:30am to 9:00am Visitation for friends will be from 9:00am to 9:45am Services will start in the Chapel at 10:00am
