Ricky Lynn Jones Sr.

Ricky "Rick" Jones SR., 63, of Grand Bay, AL, lost the battle to cancer in his sleep on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. A celebration of life gathering for family and friends will be held at 2pm, Sunday, April 15, 2018 with a funeral service following at 4pm at Serenity Funeral Home, 8691 Old Pascagoula Rd, Mobile, AL 36619. Rick was born May 11,1954 in Fort Worth, TX to Chester and Margie Jones. He was retired and absolutely LOVED spending his time with his beautiful wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a devoted Alabama fan (ROLL TIDE) and a "jack of ALL trades", there wasn't ANYTHING that he could not fix! He also loved two-stepping to his favorite country songs, singing karaoke, and his cowboy hat and boots. Rick truly was an ole " Troubadour". Rick was always there to help friends with projects or whatever else they needed him for. Rick is survived by his wife, Donna Kay Jones; son Davy Jones; daughter-in-law Rene Jones; daughter Jennifer Lyon; son-in-law Tim Lyon; son Gene Keith; daughter-in-law April Bosarge; son Lee Griffin; daughter-in-law Brook Griffin; daughter Felicia Jones; son-in-law Daniel Scott; daughter Kalyn Jones; son-in-law Aubrey Norris; son Ricky Jones; and daughter-in-law Christa Jones. His brother Danny Jones and sister Karen Denney. He leaves his most precious memories with his 15 grandchildren who know him as,"Pops". Several nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Margie Jones and his brother Carl Jones. Rick was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. A special thank you to the AseraCare Hospice in Mobile for their loving care and support. You are truly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rick's memory can be made to the family. So He put His arms around him and whispered, “Come with Me.” With tearful eyes, we watched him suffer, And saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, We could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes “the best”.
