Mr. Richard Wade Young

Today, we gather to honor the life of a man who meant so much to so many—Richard Wade Young. A husband, a Dad, a Pawpaw, a Brother, and a friend to all who knew him. Richard left this world on December 2nd, 2025, just one day before his 79th birthday, and though our hearts ache with his absence, we find peace in knowing he has gone to be with the Lord and reunited with his beloved, Jane, the love of his life. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Jane Young, his parents James Franklin Young and Louise Becton, and his sisters, Leary, Joan, and Wanda. Richard leaves behind a legacy of love that lives on through his children: his son, Daren Young, and his daughter, Cari Young Gurley (Mickey). As a Pawpaw, Richard’s heart was fullest. He is survived by his grandson, Justice Young; his granddaughters, Callie Young (Richard); Ava Gurley; and Gabi Gurley. His great-grandson, little Ryder Green, added a spark of joy to his later years—joy that we know will continue to echo through this family for generations. Richard was a man of quiet strength, steady love, and unwavering faith. He worked hard, he cared deeply, and he lived joyously. Whether he was sharing a story, offering a helping hand, or simply sitting beside those he cared for, his presence brought comfort and peace. Family meant everything to him. He cherished every moment, every holiday, every laughter-filled gathering, and even the simple everyday moments that often become our most treasured memories. His love didn’t stop at immediate family—Richard leaves behind many more relatives who love him dearly and who will continue to carry his memory forward with pride and affection. Though today we grieve, we also celebrate a life well lived. We remember Richard not for the day he left us, but for every beautiful, devoted, loving day he spent with us. His legacy is not written only in dates or milestones, but in the people he shaped, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave. As we say goodbye for now, we hold tight to the promise of reunion. Richard is home again—with the Lord, with his wife, and with those who went before him. And while he is gone from our sight, he is never gone from our hearts.
