Maxine Webb Pickering

Maxine Older Webb-Pickering was born June 3, 1933 in Irvington, AL. After 91¾ years our precious mother went home to see Jesus, on Monday, March 10, 2025. Today, she is once again with her parents, Ethel Deakle Older and Edward James Older. She is also rejoicing with her husband of over 50 years Thiery (Jack) Webb and, after he went to Heaven, her husband of almost 20 years, Bill Pickering, as well as her 2 brothers, Carl and William Older, and other family members who preceded her. She always said that God blessed her with two good husbands. She was known as Maxine, Mom, Momma, and Mawmaw. God blessed her with four children: Patricia ‘Patty’ Webb (Monnie) Tripp, Steve (Sharon) Webb, Janet Webb (Will) Shore and Peggy Webb (Bob) Wayman. Two stepdaughters, Molly (Bruce) Pate and Jill (Chris) Meyers. She had 11 grandchildren: Michael (Meg) Robertson, Matthew Webb, Mark (Alyssa) Dunnam, Susan Logan Rodriguez, Thiery (Heather) Webb, Derek (Cyndi) DeMers, Shontell (Jason) Volinsky, Peter (Melissa) Webb, Evan (Felicia) Elliott, Judah Stahl and Jordan Stahl. She had 17 great-grandchildren (with one on the way), and one great-great-grandchild (with one on the way). She had four step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren. She also had many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her main desire was that her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and on down the line, come to know the saving grace of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to teach their children, so that we will all be in Heaven together one day. Maxine was very athletic, playing softball and basketball on women’s teams. She enjoyed her Tuesday morning bowling league for over 40 years, and later learning to line dance at the Grand Bay Senior Center. Maxine was very active in her church through the years, serving in many capacities, such as: Youth Leader, Church Greeter, and Sound Technician, to name a few. She led many people to the Lord and certainly is hearing “well done my good and faithful servant”. Maxine and her husband, Jack, owned and operated Bay Dry Goods in Grand Bay for many years. Later on, she became a very proficient Tax Preparer and had her own business in her home. She enjoyed playing games with her family and loved going to Game Night at First Baptist Church the last Friday night of each month. Family and friends can gather at First Baptist Church Grand Bay, located at: 10170 Grand Bay Wilmer Rd S., Grand Bay, AL, on Thursday evening, March 13th from 5 – 8 pm for visitation. On Friday, March 14th, family will gather at 12:30 pm, friends can join us at 1 pm, and we will have a Celebration Of Her Life at 2 pm, at First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Grand Bay Cemetery immediately following the service. Pallbearers: Michael Robertson, Evan Elliott, Matthew Webb, Thiery Webb, Peter Webb, Mark Dunnam, Derek DeMers, Judah Stall, and Jordan Stall. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift can be made in her name to: First Baptist Church, Chest of Joash, P. O. Box 326, Grand Bay, AL 36541.
