Marvis Loy Bosarge

Marvis Bosarge passed away in the comfort of her residence on July 24, 2025, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee - just one week shy of her 84th birthday. She was born on August 1, 1941, and raised in the serene environments of Bayou La Batre, Mobile, Alabama. Marvis lived a life marked by dedication, love, and an indomitable spirt, a woman of faith. Marvis Bosarge was preceded in death by her parents, Martha Harriet (Hattie)Vining Bosarge, (1975) and Martin Carey Sr. (1977) She preceded in death by her sister, Helen Joyce Richardson (2023) and her children, Rhonda Marie Hester (2023) and George Dywayne Hester (1962). Marvis was a beacon of ambition and grace, evident in her illustrious careers as a businesswoman. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to success. She was a business owner for Topper City. Ms. Bosarge was a licensed realtor for a silver and gold agency. With a business degree she excelled at life insurance with Liberty National. Marvis was working in the world of tugboats, where her culinary skills were legendary. Her Brave gypsy spirit moved her to Tennessee in 2001 for the love of mountains. Which she called her “Journey’s End”. She worked at Dollywood and Applebarn, where she made numerous friends. Her warm presence brought joy to many. Marvis was a woman of elegance and patriotism, expressing her individuality through her distinctive style, always adorned with a smile and freshly polished nails. Her Love for animals (especially her chihuahuas) gave her joy and companionship. Marvis Bosarge is survived by her children, Carey Steven Hester, and Martha Lucille Hester Cooper; her brother, Martin Carey Bosarge, Jr (Edna); her grandchildren, Michael Shane Thomas, Heather Sheree Bliss Rios (Robin), Joshua Lee Cooper, Alisha Danelle Cooper, Kristen Donelle Hester Switzky, Krystal Dawn Moore, and Carey Jacob Hester; her great grandchildren, Deshae Ann Cooper Miles, Lilith Dawn Cooper, Alandra Georgeanna Wedgeworth, Kaitlynn Cierra Wedgeworth, Catherine Amanda Rios, Suellen Marie Bliss, and Victoria Isabella Maria Rios. She was survived by many of her beloved nephews, nieces, family and friends. Marvis Bosarge's pallbearers include: Joshua Lee Cooper, Michael Shane Thomas, Gregory L. Jackson, Carey Jacob Hester, Joshua Allen Somerset, and Robin Roberts Rios. Marvis Bosarge's family would like to celebrate her “Journey's End” on Tuesday, August 5th at Serenity Funeral Home with a public visitation beginning at 11:30 am until 1:30 pm in Theodore, Alabama. The funeral service will follow from the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery in Bayou La Batre, Alabama. There will be a live stream of the funeral service, at 1:30 pm, for family and friends to celebrate Marvis Bosarge.
