Lynn Petway Lee

Lynn Jean Petway Lee passed away quietly, with family by her side at Saad Hospice Care, Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Lynn is a Mobile Alabama native, born August 10, 1946. She was a graduate of Murphy High School, and was proud to be a Panther. As a loyal Alabama Crimson Tide fan, Lynn was always ready to yell Roll Tide. She retired in 2022 from the technology department in the Mobile County Public School System. Lynn loved her family and decorating for Christmas. She loved going to the river or the beach, and she especially had a great love for horses, specifically Appaloosas. Lynn served many years as the president for the local Gulf Central Association (GCA), and also held leadership positions with the Alabama Open Horseman's Association (AOHA) committee. Lynn was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She had lots of friends, and former co-workers that she loved, and by whom she was loved. Lynn is survived by her husband, William H. Lee, Sr. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theron R. Petway and Fannie Irene 'Pat' Borders Petway, and her brother Theron R. 'Junior' Petway, Jr. Lynn is also survived by her children, Daniel Paul Sellers (Jennifer); Penny Lee Smith (Michael); Rebecca Lee Scott (Jeffrey); William H. Lee, Jr. (Dot); and her brother Jerry Petway. Grandchildren are William Lee, Lydia Smith (Brad), Christopher Lee, Sterling Smith, Adam Steele, Savannah Spencer, Stephen Steele, Daniel Sellers, Zachary Lee, Chancy Lee, Cathryn Scott Downie (Tyler), Lila Smith Hanst (Luke), Alex Sellers (Kaci), Carter Sellers, and Sara Smith. Great grandchildren are Anthony Lee, Felicity Steele, Christian Lee, Easton Lee, Brendon Lee, Penny Smith, Wyatt Smith, Laken Sellers, Gideon Downie, and Joshua Downie. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
