Lawrence Edward Stewart

Lawrence Edward Stewart, “Larry,” was born on December 2, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to John T. and Maybelle Stewart. Larry served in the United States Army from 1961 ~ 1964, and was stationed in Germany. He married the love of his life, Brenda, on October 5, 1968. They have been married for almost 55 years. Larry enjoyed many hobbies including squash, scuba diving, and hunting; but his favorite was golf, especially with his sons. His passion was spending time with his family and grandchildren. During his career with Haliburton the family moved to Singapore for five years. His job took him to many countries including India, Japan, China, Sicily, Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, England, and Scotland. While in Singapore, he and Brenda took up scuba diving which they both loved. When they returned to the states in 1989, the family relocated to Oklahoma City. It was here that they attended Windsor Hills Baptist Church. Larry realized his need of salvation, and from that day forward, he was determined to serve the Lord wholeheartedly. He served as a deacon, drove a bus route every Sunday, and took vacation to serve at Youth Conference. After retirement, Larry and Brenda moved to Heber Springs, Arkansas and were faithful members in the ministry of Bro. Rick Dawson at Clearview Baptist Church. After Bro. Dawson’s death in 2018, they relocated to Theodore, Alabama and joined Lighthouse Baptist Church. Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda, and their children: Darrin Stewart and wife Jacqi of Oklahoma City, Kelli Jenkins of Oklahoma City, Brooke Dawson and husband David of Theodore, Alabama, and Brandon Stewart of Theodore, Alabama; nine grandchildren: Jonathan Stewart, Lauren Stewart, Abigail Stewart, Jossilynn Marshall Braelynn Jenkins, Mackenzie Dawson, Nataley Dawson, Lucas Dawson, and Mollie Dawson; Larry’s sister, Kaye Biggs and husband Reid of Arlington, Texas; special brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Kris Rose of Hideaway, Texas, Ken and Lorie Adams of Quinlan, Texas; and Lance and Sandy Moyer of Temple, Texas and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM from Lighthouse Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at the church one hour prior to service time. Burial will take place at Martin Cemetery in Rosebud, Arkansas.
