Knoxie Lee Johnson Jr.

The Life and Legacy Knoxie Lee Johnson, Jr. August 20, 1936 – April 13, 2023 Knoxie Lee Johnson, Jr., was a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama. He was born to the union of Knoxie and Lethia Johnson. He was affectionally known as “Baldy.” He completed his earthly journey peacefully at home on April 13, 2023, to be with his Savior at the age of 86. He was a 1955 graduate of Central High School. He continued his education at Spalding Business College. He also served as a member of the United States Army, worked as a Merchant Seaman (10yrs.) and retired from the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier after 32 years. He was a member of The National Association of Letter Carriers. He was preceded in death by his parents Knoxie and Lethia Johnson, beloved son Darryl M. Johnson, grandson Charles Gaston III, three sisters Beulah Bradley, Dorothy Mae Favors, Flora B. Riddick, five brothers, Rudolph, Alphonse, Edward, Melvin, and William Johnson; mother-in-law Rose E. Manuel, son-in-law Heriberto “Eddie” Cortez, two sisters-in-law Clara Lee Bodie and Nell Stevens. Knoxie leaves to cherish his legacy and precious memories a loving and devoted wife of 54 years Alice Johnson, four loving daughters Jemina Johnson-Williams, Karlyn (Ron) Tyson, Kimberlyn (Marcus) Johnson, Kendrea Johnson-Cortez. 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. One brother, Clarence (Yvonne) Johnson, Haverstraw, NY; two sisters Milred Reeves, Boca Raton, Fl. and Gwendolyn Foster; one sister-in-law; Darryer (Val) Rice, one brother-in-law, Timothy (Angela) Jones; one Goddaughter Gabrella (Lavanda) Gibbs. Devoted friends Earl Safford, John (Betty) Harriel, Randallstown, MD., Michael Pettis, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A special thank you and recognition to Tomiya, Kendrea and sons, Josef (Venecia) Stewart, Yvonne Irby, USA Medical Hospital and Southern Care Hospice for their altruistic sacrifices, devoted, and loving care of our loved one. Also, we greatly appreciate everyone who provided prayers, calls, text, presence and condolences. You have come through when we needed you the most. For this, we are extremely grateful. May God continue to bless each and all of you. Continue to keep us in your prayers. Services will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Christ Temple Apostolic Church with a visitation from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon and a funeral service at 12:00 noon, followed by a graveside at Lawn Haven Cemetery, 8851 Old Pascagoula Rd. Theodore, AL 36582.
