Howard "Buddy" Eugene Smith Jr.

Howard “Buddy” Eugene Smith Jr. (July 11, 1973 ~ July 11, 2024) was a wonderful husband, great father and grandfather. He was born to Howard E. Smith Sr. and Olivia Diane Smith in Mobile, Alabama. He was a hard worker, opened his own hardwood flooring business in 2005, Port City Flooring. He started out with a truck and trailer and built his business and reputation to being a very successful business. He loved mud riding. We had many family moments playing in the mud and met many of our friends who are like family in the mud parks. He will be missed by his employees, friends and contractors. Howard was an amazing man that touched the lives of many people. We will do our best to carry on his legacy. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Cynthia Wolfe Smith; his children, Cory Alex Smith (Kara Eubanks), Haedan Miles Smith, Raven Nicole Crosson, Ciaran McKinley Crosson and Aedan Wolfe Crosson (Jasmine Pearce); his grandchildren; Logan Smith, Mavis Smith, Delilah Jade Crosson; his mother, Olivia Diane Smith; his siblings; Phil Edwards (Lia), Tim Edwards (Mellonie) and Kimberly Smith Bentley; and our two pups, Sophie and Rhona. I met my wonderful husband 25 years ago. I was his bartender. I was pregnant with child #3 and he came in everyday with the framing crew he worked with. I craved Wendy’s chili and French fries. He fed me almost every day and I floated his tab every week until Friday. He always told me he was going to marry me one day and I told him he was full of it. I was happily married, pregnant with child #3. Well, a few years later, I was divorced and single. I was no longer working at Solomons, but still kept in touch with a few folks. Ms. Judy asked me if I had let him know I was single because he always liked me and so I gave him a call. We went to New Orleans for our first date, April 2005, my intentions only being to have fun and not get into a relationship, but we had the best time. March 18, 2006, we were engaged and married that June. He took on a woman with 3 kids and we had another. God blessed us with a total of 5 children and 3 grandbabies. He was a loving father and grandpa. Howard was a loving son who took care of his mother that has Alzheimer’s dementia. Howard was loved by all. He will be missed by all. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 4:00 pm from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore, AL. A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until service time.
