Helen Virginia Furby

Helen Virginia (Oliver) Furby went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 8, 2024. She was born on April 12, 1938, to the late Richard T. Oliver and Mattie Oliver. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 67 years, Barney Eugene Furby and her siblings, Opal Scull, Millie Spiller, Roland Oliver, Gordon Oliver, and Leslie Thomas Oliver. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Karen Williams and Sharon Furby. Her grandchildren, Eric Demouey and Stephanie (Jonny) Gaston. Her great grandchildren, Gracie and Gavin Gaston. Her siblings, Harvey (Valerie) Oliver, Dwight (Janet) Oliver, Robert (Lynn) Oliver, Dale Oliver and Gracie Fuller. And many beloved nieces and nephews. She married the love her life on July 27, 1956. She was a devoted wife and mother. Not a day went by that she didn’t make sure the house was filled with love, laughter, and a good home-cooked meal. Together, the two of them built a life that would bring glory to Christ. For years, she helped her husband in their business building elaborate cabinets that graced many homes, businesses, and churches along the Gulf Coast. They worked side by side for many years. She was a faithful member of Forts Lake Assembly of God for over 60 years. She served in many different roles at the church, whether it be teaching, singing, or praying for others. For years, both Helen and her husband traveled along with their pastor, Rev. Tim Cauley to sing and serve the Lord. Anyone who knew her knew of her love for God. She always showed God's love through the life she lived and never failed to put others first. Her whole life was lived for the sole purpose of serving Christ. She studied God’s word faithfully and had a consistent prayer life. She was an encourager and a mighty prayer warrior. ‭‭She was solely dedicated to living her life by God’s word and worked towards building her treasures in heaven like it says in Matthew 6:19-21: Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. She surely received a great reward in Heaven. Our hearts are broken at the loss of the sound of her laughter and her sweet, gentle spirit. Yet, there's peace in knowing she if finally healed and she is with the Savior she has longed to see. Until we see her again, we will cling to the hope and promises of Christ she taught us all about. We rejoice in knowing we will see her again and anticipate the day we are reunited with her again. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Forts Lake Assembly of God. Visitation for friends will begin at 10:00 AM. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM with Rev. Tim Cauley officiating. Interment will follow at Grand Bay Cemetery.
