George Edward Kountz III

George “Snookie” Kountz III Born in Mobile, AL on May 30, 1942, to George “Budgey” Kountz, Jr and Elizabeth Delveaux departed this life on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at his home in Wilmer, AL surrounded by his loved ones. Growing up as the oldest of seven children, George worked on the family dairy farm, milking cows, and other chores. He retired from Armstrong World Industries after 25 plus years. For over 60 years he was a part-time meat cutter at A&P Foods, Greers Cash Savers and ended his meat cutting days at Winn Dixie in Semmes, AL. George worked for Winn Dixie for over 25 years. He loved his work family and worked up until his illness in February 2023. He was a very hard and dedicated worker. George loved attending church at Solid Rock Church. He loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his family. He had a special bond with his three what he would call his best friends – Buddy Malone, Carl McDonald and Bill Burt. He was truly dedicated to his loved ones and would be the first to help someone in need. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his father George “Budgey” Kountz Jr, his mother Elizabeth Delveaux, brother Donald “PeeWee” Kountz, stepson Richard Dewayne Vardaman, grandson Joe Carlisle Vardaman and brother-in-law Gene “Geno” Stewart. He leaves to cherish his memories to his wife of 37 years, Jo Ann Kountz; son, Tim (Dell) Kountz; daughters, Kim Kountz, Robin (Pat) Cochran; sons, Braydin and Wyatt Kountz; stepsons, Norman Vardaman and Shane (Edana) Vardaman. His sister, Betty Jean Stewart; brothers, Ronnie (Deborah) Kountz, Maurice (Penny) Kountz; sisters, Linda (Mike) Stewart, Tammy (Richard) Skelton and sister-in-law Lanita Kountz. 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers- George would like donations made in his honor to his beloved church, Solid Rock Church of God, 11400 Tanner Williams Rd. Mobile, AL. Pallbearers: grandsons - Jay Cooper, Brandon Norris, Michael Coley, nephew – Chad Kountz, son-in-law – Patrick Cochran and best friend – Buddy Malone. Honorary Pallbearers – Tim Kountz, Braydin and Wyatt Kountz, Norman and Shane Vardaman, Hunter Davis, Trey and Preston Vardaman, Brandon Calvert, Jackson Collins, Rhett Cooper, Maddox Norris, Travis Reed, Garrett Dewberry, and Cazwell Donnelly. A special thank you to his granddaughter, Chelsea Kountz, for the love and care she gave her Pawpaw Snookie as his caregiver. A thank you to Springhill Hospice for their professionalism and care their entire team gave to our loved one. They were amazing. Services will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, from Solid Rock Church of God at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Valhalla Cemetery.
