Frances Michelle Roof

Frances “Michelle” Clark Roof, a light who shined brighter than anyone, left this world far too soon on October 19, 2024. Born on July 11, 1966, at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama, Michelle’s journey took her on an extraordinary path of love, laughter, and plenty of adventures—always with a smile so genuine and vibrant, it made you feel like you were the only person in the room. She graduated from Greenville High School in Texas in May 1984, and later, on March 22, 1997, married the love of her life, Geoff Roof, in Slidell, Louisiana. Together they created joyful memories with their son, Matthew “Kyle” Roof. Michelle often bragged about Kyle being an amazing father— and her grandchildren, Maddilynn Kay, Nolan Marshall, and Greyson James Roof of Lenexa, Kansas were the twinkling stars in her universe. She delighted in every moment spent being their “Mimi”. Michelle was the cherished daughter of the late Harry K. Clark, Jr. and Mary Gueret Clark, and a devoted sister to the late Phyllis Martin, Paula Clark, Lotte Delaney (the late Adrian Delaney), and Darrell Clark (Jennifer). Michelle would want everyone to know that Darrell may have been her "favorite sibling," but Lotte was beyond a doubt her true partner in crime. She was especially adored by her nieces and nephews—Stacy Martin, Christina Martin, Joshua Martin, Ashley Dodson, Adrian Delaney Jr. (Cassy), Victoria Irvin (Johnny), Kaitlyn Bourgeois (Brent), Melissa Clark, Jason Clark, and Cameron Clark—and her great-nieces and nephews Sequoia, Trey, Adrian III, Hendrix, Kyson, Charlie, Aubree, Tanner, Theo, and Erica who all loved her with equal fervor. She treated every child, whether related by blood or adopted into her heart, as her own, making each one feel special. Her expansive extended family consists of too many uncles, aunts, and cousins to name individually, but if there was ever a competition for “favorite niece/cousin,” Michelle won it hands down. Her career took her through various roles, including more than a decade at Terminix, then to the Wichita School District in Kansas, before landing at Airbus and finally GXO Logistics. She was passionate about people and through her work with the Airbus Foundation, became a champion for local youth, promoting STEM education and character development at local schools and non-profit organizations. Michelle proudly owned an enviable collection of designer purses (always with matching wallets, of course) and was a fierce competitor in a game of UNO or Mexican Train Dominoes. Whether it was indulging in crab legs with her favorite people or diving into a new craft project, Michelle poured love into everything she did. The handmade treasures she created were tokens of her affection, gifted to those she held dear. Her kindness and grace illuminated the lives she touched. Michelle’s smile had a way of making you feel instantly at ease, and her genuine warmth made her the person friends and family turned to in times of need. She was a nurturer of hearts and souls, a role she played with extraordinary love and strength. Michelle often asked, “Who loves you the most?” and whether you knew her as Frances, Michelle, Chelle, Aunt Chelle, or Mimi, the answer was always her. She loved us all the most, and we will forever love her more than words can express. Though she’s no longer with us, we carry our countless memories of Michelle—her contagious laugh, her fierce loyalty, and the boundless love she shared. She truly was the best of us all and her spirit will forever dance in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 12 o'clock noon from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore, AL. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time.
