Dorothy Ann Rainer Mize, born January 10, 1943 in Gadsden, AL, age 79, passed away January 3, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Wilson Rainer and Willie Mae Garrard Rainer; husband, Jerry Hubert Mize I; and brother, Gary Kay Rainer. She is survived by her children, Jerry Hubert Mize II, Ralph Daniel Mize (Emily), Michael Todd Mize (Cheryl), Stephen Craig Mize (Christi), and Laurie Ann Mize Taylor (Bill); grandchildren, Amanda Williamson, Kara Garvin, Anna Williamson, Ramil Daniel Mize, Ezekiel M. Mize, Danielee Ann Mize, Zachary Mize, Victoria Holdeman, AnneMarie Gondek, Josiah Mize, Rachel Tull, Abby Mize, Caleb Mize, Grace Mize, Rebekah Taylor Franklin, Trip Taylor, and Micah Taylor; great-grandchildren, John Isaac Williamson, Lucas Edgar Williamson, Markus Garvin, Aimee Lynn Garvin, Sammy Garvin, Hudson Williamson, Cooper Williamson, Kaia Tate Reeves, Palmer Addison Mize, Martha Elliot Mize, Julian Fletcher Mize, Landry David Mize, Michael J. Dorothy was a lover of Jesus, a Navy wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known to all as Nana. She was a rescuer of cats and dogs and a grower of flowers ___________________________________________________________________________________ Jerry Hubert Mize I, born September 19, 1938 in Gadsden, AL, age 84, passed away September 29, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert D. Mize (Mattie Lou Street); and siblings, Larry Mize, Judy Warren, and Sandra Pitts. He is survived by wife, Dorothy Ann Rainer Mize; children, Jerry Hubert Mize II, Ralph Daniel Mize (Emily), Michael Todd Mize (Cheryl), Stephen Craig Mize (Christi), and Laurie Ann Mize Taylor (Bill); grandchildren, Amanda Williamson, Kara Garvin, Anna Williamson, Ramil Daniel Mize, Ezekiel M. Jerry Mize retired from the Navy after serving over 20 years and worked at the Post Office in Marietta for 32 years. He also served 30 years as a bi-vocational Minister of Music in Georgia, Alabama, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Mississippi. Jerry was a follower of Christ, a husband, father, and grandfather. He was known by one and all as Papa. He loved the Alabama Crimson Tide almost as much as he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also well known for his athletic ability: strength, boxing, rope climbing, sprinting (we never saw him lose a race), and was amazing at ping pong.
