Clinton Earl Roberts

Clinton Earl Roberts, affectionately known as "Stink" to all who knew him personally, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on December 8th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his ancestral home in Neely, Mississippi. Born on October 12th, 1933, in Deer Park, Alabama, Clint’s life was one of laughter, love, and unforgettable stories that will be cherished for generations. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he served with distinction for over nine years, ultimately earning the rank of Sergeant. His time in the service was marked by camaraderie, humor, and perhaps the occasional moment of mischief. It’s said that on one memorable occasion, he may or may not have "borrowed" his sergeant for an impromptu adventure, a tale that has passed into Army lore. As a tank loader, his wit was never far behind. One infamous story involves him loading a tank’s gun with blanks, giving his driver a fright that is still talked about to this day. After his military service, Clint went on to build a long and prosperous career, retiring in 1994 after 23 years at Litton Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi, where he served as the Hull Department Foreman. He also worked for several years at Alabama Dry Dock Shipyard in Mobile, Alabama. Outside of work, he was a dedicated member of the Pascagoula Masonic Lodge, where he held the title of 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Joppa Shriner. Stink’s passions were simple but deep: hunting, fishing, and cooking with those he loved. He had a special talent for bringing people together around a meal, often followed by a game of dice or cards—where he was known to take a playful bet or two. His love for pranks was legendary, always accompanied by his million-dollar laugh and infectious smile. Clint’s heart belonged to his family, especially his beloved wife, Brenda Roberts, whom he married and spent 23 joyful years with until her passing in 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Clarence E. Roberts and Mary Roberts Green, Fred Green, Sr., his siblings, Clarence “Bunk” Roberts, Theda Byrd, and Fred Green, Jr., his bonus child Kym Singleton, and his grandchild Taylor Brennan Dement. He is survived by his brother, Thomas Roberts; children Rickey (Ouida) Roberts, Wendy (J) Johnson, and Ramona Roberts; bonus children William Stanford, Joyce Capers, Patti Dunaway, and Travis Singleton; as well as his cherished grandchildren Luke Beard, Joshua Roberts, Meagan Roberts, Adam Hall, Rocky Anderson, Brandy Anderson, Tony (Samara) Larison, Brandy Woods, and 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, and many dear friends. Everything Clint did, he did with full-hearted enthusiasm. He was a man who never took life too seriously but lived it with all his might, making memories with each step and leaving a trail of joy in his wake. The world may have lost a bit of its sparkle with Clint’s passing, but his stories, his laugh, and his spirit will continue to warm the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. A private family service will be held to honor his life and legacy at Serenity Funeral Home on Old Pascagoula Road in Theodore, Alabama, on Friday, December 13th. Visiting hours begin at 10:00 AM and funeral service commences at 11:00 AM. Pastor, Pat Casey and Speaker for the Family, Mr. Rodney Courtney will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Luke Beard, Josh Roberts, Adam Hall, William Stanford, Tony Larison, Travis Singleton, Chad Byrd, and Marc Lanier. Rest in peace, Clint, Daddy, PawPaw, Stink. You will be missed but never forgotten.
