Clayton Alfred Reeves

Clayton Alfred Reeves, age 90, beloved father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and faithful child of God, passed away peacefully in his home in Mobile, AL on May 31, 2020. He was born on February 23, 1930 in Laurel Hill, Florida to Obie and Iola Reeves. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1951 and served his country honorably in Korea. Several years after his discharge from the Army, he met and married his wife of 45 years, Mary Elizabeth “Ann” Reeves. He resided in Mobile County for over 50 years, and retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding after 29 years. Clayton, or “PawPaw” as he was known to most, was passionate about family, music, gardening, and animals. He had a servant heart and was willing to help anyone that needed it. His kindness, compassion and sense of humor left a profound impact on most everyone that he knew, and he was very much loved. Clayton is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Ann" Reeves; parents Obie and Iola (Davis) Reeves; siblings Macy Reeves, Lillie (Ralph) Williams, James “Ollis” (Jessie “Lois”) Reeves, Jewell (James) Laird, Verbie (Jeff) Davis, Carlton (Lenora “Jack”) Reeves, O.C. (Elmary “Pete”) Reeves, Euvhon (Noreen) Reeves and Samuel “Douglas” Reeves. Left to honor his memory are his loving children: Lisa Reeves Hollingsworth, Robin (Richard) Murphy, and Andrew "Dale" Reeves; grandchildren: Ashley (Justin) Hamilton, Krystal Murphy Lunceford, Schuyler Hollingsworth, Sydney Hollingsworth, Meredith Reeves, Madeline Reeves and Elizabeth Reeves; great-grandchildren: Kolbi Jane Lunceford, Easton Lunceford, Liam Hamilton, Evie Hamilton and Willa Hamilton; sisters Vara Henderson and June (Preston) Kelley; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will be remembered for his hard work ethic, sense of humor, and love of country and family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A private family service with Serenity Funeral Home will be held prior to interment. All family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service at approximately 3:15 pm on Friday, June 5 at Serenity Memorial Gardens. Please proceed directly to the mausoleum on Serenity Gardens Road to join the processional at the appointed time. At graveside, please observe 6 foot social distancing for each family.
