Charles Alan Raley

Charles “Alan” Raley, born March 10, 1952, made his final journey home to be with the Lord on November 28, 2023. He served the Lord and His people faithfully while here on Earth, being the perfect embodiment of Matthew 5: 16: “Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.” Alan was married to his high school sweetheart and best friend, Elaine Annette Bosarge, for 51 years. He served his beloved church, St. Margaret’s by volunteering at the Blessing of the Fleet; working in the sanctuary; grounds and building upkeep; service on the board; and volunteering at the food pantry. He humbly accepted the Christ the King Medal (the most prestigious recognition of service by the Archdiocese of Mobile) in 2021 for his service at St. Margaret’s. Alan’s legacy of love, humility, and service will continue to live on through his friend’s family. In his honor, we can find ways to love and forgive each other, and find small ways to serve and be kind. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Annette Bosarge; son, Charles Kevin Raley; father, Henry Elroy Raley and mother, Octavia Lowery Raley. Alan is survived by his daughter, Amy Ryan (Christopher); son, Cameron Raley (Melissa); grandchildren; Thomas Raley, Brianna Ryan, Christian Ryan, Karsten Ryan, Vivian Gass and Curtis Gass; brothers, Henry Raley (Thelma), Steve Raley and Ralph Raley; sister, Lois Johns (J.T. Johns); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Serving as pallbearers are Thomas Raley, Christian Ryan, Karsten Ryan, Curtis Gass, Brandon Johns and Brad Johns. Services will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023, at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Bayou La Batre, AL, with a Visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Oddfellow’s Cemetery. A Repast will be held at the Raley residence at the conclusion of services. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Mulherin Custodial Home in his name.
