Beverlyn Little Johnson

Beverlyn Ann Little Johnson was born on October 1, 1958, in Mobile, Alabama. She was the third daughter born to Eddie and Pearlie Little. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Grand Bay, AL under the leadership of Rev. Samuel Jenkins. She exchanged life for eternity on July 13, 2025. She began her education at Dixon Elementary School and continued to Mobile County High School where she graduated in 1976. After graduation, she worked at Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS as a welder. Beverlyn changed career paths and began working for the food service industry as a line cook supervisor at a small family restaurant. She began working at a seafood processing plant as a line worker, but her leadership skills were recognized early, and she was promoted to department supervisor. After leaving production work she started working for Quincy’s Steakhouse as a breakfast cook. Again, her skills and leadership were recognized by management, and she was promoted to assistant manager. After leaving the restaurant industry, she began working as a serger at Lee Jeans Company in Irvington, AL. Once again, her productivity leadership skills were recognized by upper management, and she was promoted to a shipping supervisor until the plant closed. She attended medical billing training at Capps College in Mobile, AL and graduated as Medical Office Specialist in 2009. She was an excellent student and excelled in her studies. Beverlyn’s desire to help all people led to her becoming a member of the Bayou La Batre Chamber of Commerce as a volunteer. Her smile and winning personality broke down many barriers. Beverlyn had a love of cooking and became an avid confectioner. Her pralines, cakes, fudge, and other candies became the basis of a small enterprise, “Something Sweet”. She became very successful and was sought after to cater birthday parties, weddings, baby showers, and other occasions. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, creating her famous candy trays; this brought her extreme joy to know her candy creations were a part of someone’s special occasion. She touched many lives during her life journey, with her signature smile, laugh, wit, and comical conversations. She was the life of the family, sharing her wealth of knowledge, wisdom, time, talents, love, and vibrant personality with each person she encountered. She was truly a blessed and kind soul who was a joy to anyone lucky enough to encounter her in public. Beverlyn was proceeded in death by her parents, Eddie J. and Pearlie M. Little, her sisters, Amaneice Little and Mary N. Little Biggs, and her brother, Sherman Little. She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband Richard T. Johnson of Irvington, AL; her daughter, Valeska R.(Terrance) Dyer of Grand Bay, AL; two grandsons, Dallas Nettles and True Dyer both of Grand Bay, AL; two sisters, Phyllis (Neslie) Ethridge of Liberty Hill, TX, and Sylvia Little of Leeds, AL; one brother, Elzy J. Little of Grand Bay, AL; two sister in laws, Mary M. Peoples-Little of Snellville, GA and Roxanne Johnson of Mascoutah, IL; two brother in laws, Danny Johnson (deceased), David Johnson of Palm Bay, FL; her goddaughter, MelShonda Baldwin of Mobile, AL; her godson, Kermit Kidd Jr. of Mobile, AL, numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, and cousins; her devoted friends, Marshall Blanks of Mobile, AL, Madilyn Lewis of Montgomery, AL, Jonathan Edwards of Grand Bay, AL, Katty Moore of Mobile, AL, Frank (Cynthia) Woodyard of Grand Bay, AL, and Teresa (Jerome) Jackson, of Irvington, AL; her loving and caring neighbors, and many, many friends, colleagues and acquaintances.
