Bessie Louise Sessions

Our dear mother, Bessie Sessions, sadly passed away on December 10, 2024, at the age of 96. She was a wonderful mother and friend who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. She lived a beautiful life full of love, laughter and resilience and touched the lives of all who knew her. Bessie was born July 9, 1928, to James Pickett Vick and Carrie Essie Stockman Vick. She married our father, Sammie C. Sessions on December 9, 1966, and was a homemaker until his death in 1980. Our mother began working for the Mobile County Public School System as an attendance clerk at Mobile County High School in Grand Bay, Alabama. We were so blessed that she got to experience our high school years with us and she was always there with a loving smile and words of encouragement. She touched countless lives in her work as a middle school math tutor. She loved teaching and did this until her retirement at the age of 65. She spent countless hours sewing, crocheting, and doing arts and craft projects. One of her favorite hobbies was working in her yard and watching all her flowers bloom. Her golden years were spent traveling, vacationing with her family, and attending all her grandchildren’s sporting, gymnastics, and dance events. She was a constant in their lives and they all knew how much their meme loved them. She devoted her life to God and family and always saw the good in everyday no matter her circumstances. Bessie loved with a strength and depth that few people are fortunate enough to experience. She was always there with a helping hand and a smile or word of encouragement that would always leave you better off after having met her. Her spirit was one of kindness and compassion and a love that knew no bounds. Those who knew her experienced her laughter and joy for life. She was always a friendly face and a friend when you needed one. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, James Pickett Vick, Carrie Essie Stockman Vick; brothers, James Preston Vick, Reginald Vick, Billy Vick, and Bob Vick; sisters, Mildred Sessions and Carolyn Buchanan; husband, Sammie C. Sessions and granddaughter, Donna Lee. She leaves to cherish her memories son, Donnie Lee; daughters Paula (Chuck) Jones, Samantha (Paul) Warren; grandchildren, Mitchell (Jennifer) Jones, Brianna (Cameron) Lloyd, Will Warren, Cassidee Jones (Robert Sicilia), Josh Warren, Zach Warren, Bailee Jones; great grandchildren Daniel Jones, Lucas Jones, Freya Warren, twins, Nico and Violet Ann Sicilia, and Sadie Lynam. Services will be held at Friendship Baptist Church in Grand Bay, Alabama with visitation from 12:00 noon -1:00 PM with service following at 1:00 PM. Bessie will be laid to rest in Grand Bay Cemetery next to her husband Sammie C. Sessions. Mom will be lovingly carried to her final resting place by Son-in-laws Chuck Jones and Paul Warren; grandsons Will Warren, Josh Warren, and Zach Warren; and grandson-in-law Cameron Lloyd.
