Barbara Ann McMullen

Barbara Ann McMullen was born January 19, 1939 and passed away comfortably, surrounded by her loving family at The Retreat in Mobile, AL on Sunday, December 4, 2022. A U.S. Air Force military wife for 24 years, she, her husband, and four sons settled in Belle Fontaine, Theodore in 1975. She enjoyed gardening and her flower garden was frequently adorned with butterflies, gnomes, frogs, dragonflies, and other trinkets she received as gifts or were purchased at her favorite store, the Dollar Tree. Her garden and yard were admired for her seasonal decorations. She had a love for elephants and cats, and displayed many different versions of them throughout her home. During the week she could be found sitting in her favorite recliner, watching NCIS with her cat, Katie. Barbara attended weekly services at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Mon Louis Island and she was known to be a generous and charitable woman. She looked forward to Sunday dinners with her family. Barbara was always available for conversation and she was a good listener. She spoke her mind, but she was patient and had a forgiving heart. Barbara was very loved and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Barbara Ann McMullen was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. McMullen, Sr.; sons, David and Michael McMullen; brother, Willis "Pat" Patterson, sister, Margaret "Sis" Morrow. She is survived by her sons, Ed McMullen (Jude Forsyth) and Wayne McMullen; grandchildren, Angela McMullen, Tony McMullen (Anne Marie Aycrigg), Erin Banks, Merlin McMullen, Catlin McMullen, Jordan Ogle, Ashley McMullen, Amanda McMullen, Ashley McMullen, and Amanda McMullen; great-grandchildren, Ila Sanford (Arron), Evan Stambaugh, Libby McMullen, and Thomas McMullen; siblings, Larry Patterson (Kathy), Bill Green (Sue), and Sharon White (Jimmy); nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorial services will be held at Serenity Memorial Gardens on Old Pascagoula Road, Mobile. A viewing will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 5-6 PM. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 2:30pm. A reception to celebrate her life will be held at The Senior Center on Nevius Road, Mobile, following the service.
