Arthur Andrew Rose Jr.

At the young age of (16) years old, Arthur Rose found his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at Hollinger’s Island Baptist Church. It would be several years, after serving in the Navy during the Korean War and starting his family, that the grace he discovered as a teenager would blossom into a call to ministry. He spent the remainder of his life on fire for God, devoted to family, friends, and spreading the light of the Gospel to those willing to receive it (and surely didn’t leave out those who weren’t 😊). Known as Brother Rose, he was most comfortable with a pulpit in front of him, a microphone in his hand and a guitar by his side. You would find his pockets always lined with inspirational tracts, ever prepared to uplift burdened hearts with the message of hope that he had found in serving the Lord. He and his family spent many years on the mission field in Arizona where he sparked revival among the Navajo Indians. He was inspired by men of faith such as Billy Graham and Leonard Ravenhill and supported tent crusades, like Frank Taylor ministries thoughout the 70’s. He was part of the 1979 revival at Cottage Hill Baptist Church where stories emerged of all night prayer meetings, worship, and healing that made a huge impact on the community and changed lives. Arthur was a welder and shipbuilder by trade and had an natural talent for poetry, painting, music, as well as an uncanny ability to figure out how to make things work mechanically. (Cars, Houses, Appliances - He could fix anything) He will always be remembered as a man who enjoyed laughing and pulling shenanigans on those he loved the most. Ready with a quip or funny anecdote to brighten any occasion, he wanted little in the world aside from the joy he experienced being with the many people he loved and who love him so dearly in return. Arthur Andrew Rose, Jr., a resident of Irvington, AL, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, November 5, 2017. He was (84) years old and is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay Rose, children, Curtis A. Rose, Sandra Kay Boykin, Randall L. Rose Sr., Lester E. Rose, Keith Wayne Rose Sr. and Mary Rose Powell, sister, Betty Rogers, grandchildren- Christina Rose, Carlton Boykin, April Griffin, Chris Boykin, Randall Rose Jr., Wesley Rose, Olivia Rose, Amber Butler, Toni Smith, Keith Rose Jr., Aaron Rose, Allen Rose, Marcus Rose, Apache Rose, Bruce Rose, Meagan Powell, 12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 12 noon with visitation from 10 am until service time. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
