Annie Laura Berry

Annie Laura Berry, age 86, a resident of Hurley, MS, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. She was born in Pascagoula, MS to the late Jalmar Frank Forsman and Mary “Ellie” Emerson Mizelle on July 17, 1936. Annie worked at International Paper Company, where she met her husband of many years. After marriage, she was a homemaker and raised all of their children in Lucedale, Mississippi. Once all of the kids were grown and moved away, they relocated to Hurley, Mississippi so she could be closer to her sisters. She was a member of the Red Hat Society for many years with both of her sisters. She was also on a bowling league where she traveled and competed. She spent a lot of time volunteering with her church and community to help those in need. She liked to travel and spend time with her family and loved it when her home was full of people during the holidays. Annie will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Lydia Lucille (Dave) Taulbee, Mable Sue (Phil) Kuhn, A.C. (Flo) Nolan, and Doug (Margaret) Nolan; and loving husband of 42 years, Cecil Roy Berry. Annie is survived by her sons, Glen David (Audrey) D’Orville, Richard M. (Mary) Tanner, Mark D. (Sherie) Tanner, and Gary W. (Bradley) Tanner; daughters, Sharon L. (James) Snelgrove and Dana Berry Freeland; grandchildren, Andrea L. (Sonny) Poole, Wesley D. (Alicia) D ‘Orville, Laura L. (Kaleb) Kirkwood, Jeffrey W. (Lauren) Snelgrove, Jeremy D. Snelgrove, Richie (Maggie) Tanner, Brian K. Tanner, Olivia G. Tanner, Brandy N. (Nick) Barber, Joel D. (Jessica) Tanner, Mary Darlene Tanner, Courtney D. (Chris) Rounsaville, Caitlyn M. (Oliver) Ens, Joshua A. (Lera) Freeland, Jacob A. Freeland, and Jessica L. Freeland: 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Jalmar Frank Forsman, Jr.; along with other family and friends. The family would like to give a special thank you for the care, love and support from Heather White, Tish Stevens, Leighan Davis, Debbie Hatcher, Bobby Morris, Sonya Foshee, Nan Breland, and the whole care team from Gentiva Hospice. A very special thank you to Linsey Dickerson, Linda Rice, Sandra Hyatt, Laurel Fortenberry, Jammie Duvall, Betty Harris, Dawn Harris, and the late Tabatha Smith for the years of care and support for our mother. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 10 AM-12 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, followed by service at 12 PM. Interment will be held in Jackson County Memorial Park.
