Sarah Perkins Johnson

Sarah Louise Perkins Johnson was born March 25, 1937, to Albert and Realia Perkins in the small town of Gastonburg, AL. Sarah worked as a home engineer and was a true fashionista; she loved to dress. Sarah was the epitome of a people person and she would talk/speak to everyone. She loved nurturing her children and reading her Bible. As time passed, Sarah married the love of her life, Amos Johnson. Amos loved Sarah so much that he put her on “layaway” so that no other man could marry her. Shortly after moving to Mobile, AL her family began to grow. Sarah truly loved and was devoted to her children and grandchildren. During the time that she stayed home, she received a knock on her door. Yes, it was one of Jehovah’s witnesses. She began to study the bible and soon decided to dedicate her life to Jehovah and symbolized that dedication, on October 14, 1973, through water baptism. Every chance she got she spoke about Jehovah. Even during her last days, she told the nurses she “couldn’t wait until she could go out and speak about Jehovah.” Her favorite scripture was John 8:32 which says “and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” Sarah remained faithful to her God, Jehovah, until her untimely death on February 20, 2023. Sarah will be remembered as the lady who loved everyone. She would hug a porcupine if it got close enough. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Johnson, Sr.; and parents, Albert and Realia Perkins. She leaves to cherish her memories her 6 children, Sarah (Leodis) Mitchell of Daphne, AL, Amos (Brenda) Johnson of Lutcher, LA, Terry (Doris) Johnson of Chickasaw, AL, Jacqueline Johnson of Mobile, AL, Tony Johnson of Mobile, AL, and Mickey (Katherine) Johnson of LaGrange, GA; 10 grandchildren, Tiffany (Clarence) Jones, Terry Johnson, Jr., Ahmad Johnson, Brandon (LaKarla) Mitchell, Cameron Mitchell, Asher Johnson, Chad (Eden) Johnson, Denise Johnson, Roland Johnson, and Justin Johnson; 5 great-grandchildren, Kerri Johnson, Tamir Johnson, Aspyn Johnson (affectionately known as Sarah Junior), Brayla Mitchell, and Draydon Mitchell; step-grandchildren, Darius Wright and Andrew Wright; her loving and devoted sister, Johnie Mae (Isaiah) Johnson; sister, Mearknee Thomas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Sarah will be greatly missed and we await to see her and her beautiful smile again. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 9-11 AM at Serenity Funeral Home, followed by service at 11 AM. Interment will held in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
