Robert Douglas Criddle Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert Douglas Criddle, owner of Dockside Construction, died on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the age of 58. He was a very hardworking, and sometimes formidable, man who resided in Grand Bay, Alabama. Robert is survived by his companion of 23 years, Julie Douglas; children, Paul Criddle, Molly Criddle, and Cierra Criddle; step-daughter, Jolene Douglas; siblings, Harvey Criddle and Debbie Wicks; other relatives, and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Paul Criddle and Betty Jean Graves; and a brother, Jeffrey Dennis Criddle. Robert was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on February 6, 1964 to Paul Criddle and Betty Graves. He attended Cape Central Junior High where he dropped out at 16 years old and ran away to travel with the carnival to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The carnival then made its round to Mobile, Alabama where Robert decided to plant his roots after meeting his first wife while working “The Spider” ride at the carnival. He then became a resident of Mobile County and started his first, of many, businesses. One of these businesses included Dockside Diving. When Robert was no longer physically able to commercially dive, he began his journey in construction. He then became a very successful business owner of Dockside Construction where he specialized in demolition and asphalt. Robert had a love of Mack trucks and heavy equipment and was very knowledgeable in repairing any type of vehicle. Robert was part of a dying breed known as the hard-working class. No matter the weather or struggles that crossed his path, he would no doubt get up and go to work. Robert lived his life to the fullest, on his terms. Robert played a huge role in his community by providing varied demolition and paving services of Dockside Construction. Months before Robert’s passing, he accepted our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was an active member of church and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. A funeral service has been scheduled at Serenity Funeral Home on Saturday, July 2, 2022. Brother Jiggs Ramsay will officiate. Viewing will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am and the service will begin at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Irvington Assembly of God, P.O.
