April 23, 1941 - June 27, 2021
Patricia "Patsy" Claire Maples, a longtime resident of Irvington, AL, passed away following a lengthy illness on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at the age of 80. She was born on April 23, 1941 in Bayou La Batre, AL where she was raised in a very loving and happy home. Mrs. Maples was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Billy Ray Maples; daughter, Lisa Claire Maples; parents, Mary “Boots” Seaman and Edward Seaman; grandparents, Leona and John E. Seaman and Armenia and Patrick Andrews; brothers, Glenn Seaman and Barton Seaman; and sisters, Diane Seaman and Mary Ruth Richardson. She is survived by her daughter, Karla Barnes (Richard); granddaughters, Leeza Barnes Collier (Chad), and Hannah Barnes; 3 great grandchildren, Logan Aguilar, Ryan Collier, and Elizabeth Collier; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Patsy was a graduate of Alba High School in Bayou La Batre and attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery. Billy and Patsy were married on October 31, 1960 and lived 50 wonderful and happy years together. Patsy worked as secretary for the First Baptist Church of Bayou La Batre and later as secretary and bookkeeper for Bayou Construction. She enjoyed her life and especially all her family, whom she loved dearly. She loved animals, and enjoyed caring for and riding horses, and also had many dogs and cats through the years. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Bayou La Batre for many years and, in later years, Grace Baptist Church in Grand Bay, Alabama. She was a joyful person who met even the tragedies and sorrows of life with a confident faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Although she will be greatly missed by her surviving family and friends, they all rejoice in having full assurance that she is in the presence of the Lord, where she has now experienced a happy reunion with Billy and Lisa and all those who preceded her there. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 2:00 and will be officiated by Rev. Paul Meredith. Visitation for family members will be at the funeral home from 11:00 until noon and for all others from noon until the chapel service. Interment will be held in Oddfellows Cemetery in Bayou La Batre. Grace Baptist Church (12930 Border Dr, Grand Bay, AL) will host a meal for the family immediately following the graveside service.
