Murdock Murph Burdine

Ret. Senior Chief Murdock Murph Burdine, age 84, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on February 21, 2022. A visitation will be held Friday, February 25, 2022 from 10 AM-12 PM at Serenity Funeral Home with a chapel service to follow at 12 PM. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Mr. Burdine served his country for nearly 24 years, serving in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. He enjoyed woodworking and refinishing antique furniture. He loved the simple things in life like sitting on the back porch and spending time with his family. Murph was always known for his love for his family and friends. He loved animals and was caring, generous, and helpful to all. He had a great sense of humor and was the backbone of the Burdine family. As a history buff, he loved watching the History Channel and old shows like Hogan’s Heroes and MASH, as well as reading his collection of Time Life History Books. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Burdine; mother, Lucille Tyner; sister, Alice Faye Wilkie; and grandson, Andrew Thomas Scott. Mr. Burdine is survived by his wife, Donna Burdine; daughters, or as he called them, his little “Burdwings,” Angelia Deese (Buddy), Dawn Thomas (Steven), Carissa Dale Dement, and Sharon B. Mosley (Michael); step-sons, Joey and Greg Marcet; step-daughter, Sherri Rodrigue (Mitch); brother, Buddy Burdine (Betty); sister, Mildred Burris; grandchildren, Michael Scott, Justine Waltman, Adam Waldron, Julie Waldron, Emily Dement Carter, Joshua Dement, Murphy Mosley, Mackensie Mosley Turner, Miller Mosley, and Cayla Marcet; 12 beautiful great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
