John Ralph Falana Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John Ralph Falana Jr. was born to John Sr. & Mary Falana on August 30, 1939 in Callahan, FL. He left this life for his eternal home in Heaven on July 14, 2022 with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Pat, Estelle, and Myrtle; great-grandsons, Mathew Zirlott & Devin Bosarge; granddaughters, Kimberly Bosarge & Miranda Falana; grandsons, Richard Zirlott & George Bosarge. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carloyn Nelson Falana that he affectionately called “Baby Cakes;” six children, Debra (Dennis) Causey, James (Agnes) Harman, Edwin (Rose) Harman, John (Maria) Falana, Kenneth (Shelley) Falana, and Kendall (Leah) Falana; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, his cat, and other friends. John & Carolyn started their life together in Callahan, FL in 1965. He worked as a crane operator at Jacksonville Shipyard and in 1975 bought a shrimp boat named Lillie Olivia and moved to Bayou La Batre, AL. In 1982 he sold the boat and went to work as a crane operator for Mobil Oil and then OilField Rental Service Co. He retired as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Mobile around 2006. Papa John’s joy was preparing Sunday lunch for his family where they all enjoyed his famous homemade rolls & lima beans. Some of his favorite past times were finding the best yard sales, catching mullet on Dauphin Island, and playing holy board, badminton, and rummikube. Services for Mr. Falana will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 with a visitation at Serenity Funeral Home Event Center from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Interment will be held at Oddfellows Cemetery in Bayou La Batre, AL after the service.
