Herman Minga Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Herman "Dick" Minga Jr., age 81, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, a resident of Grand Bay, AL passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. Dick was born to the late Herman Sr. and Christine Minga on August 17, 1940 in Phoebus, VA. Dick was a veteran of the United States Navy servicing the USS Alstede. He also served time in the United States Naval Reserves. He spent most of his career as a Supervisor of Ship Building for the United States Government. Dick was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend and partner, Linda Blackman, on May 5,1969 in Texas. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary before she passed away in 2021. They moved to various states including, Texas and Virgina, before then settling in Alabama. Dick is survived by his daughter, Crystal Annette (Michael) Keithly of Grand Bay; sons, Herman (Christina) Minga III of Mobile, Joseph (Katherine) Minga of Loxley, and Charles (Amanda) Minga of Daphne; grandchildren, Robert Tokarz, Jacob Thornton, Ariel Thornton, Hannah Maples, Tyler Minga, Gracie Maples, Emily Maples, Charlotte Minga, Madilyn Lloyd, and Lincoln Minga; sister, Francis Peeples; sisters-in-law, Nancy Copley and Tammi Taylor; cousins, Gail Parker, Sylvia Snow, Sherl Parker, and James (Sandy) Parker; other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving wife; parents; son, Roy Batten; daughter, Deborah Batten; grandson, Chase Crockett; brothers-in-law, David Peeples, Jacob Ellis Jr., David Ellis, and Ronald Ellis; and cousin, Kay Crabb. A visitation for Dick will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 8691 Old Pascagoula Road, Theodore, Alabama 36582, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Dick will be laid to rest with military honors in Serenity Memorial Gardens, 8951 Old Pascagoula Rd, Theodore, AL 36582.
