Dennis Lannie
January 9, 1951 - October 6, 2021
Dennis was born in Coden, AL, the baby boy of Ordie and Mary Alexander Lannie. He was an alumnus of Alba High School, class of 1969. After graduation, he entered the apprenticeship program and was a loyal member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers for 40 years before he retired. Dennis enjoyed his Mustang Mach I, Alabama Football, and running the pool table. He learned to play guitar by ear as a young boy, and loved to pick his guitar and sing with his daughters. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Lannie. He is survived by his beautiful bride of over 50 years, Avon Nelson Lannie; daughters, Tina (Joe) Gazzier and Tonya (Jonathan) Payton; three fine grandsons, Eric Taylor, Trey Lannie, and Jeremy Taylor; a beloved and precious granddaughter, Cheryl (Wesley) Hallman; great-grandchildren, Andrew Nicholas Hallman and Madelyn Grace Clark; treasured sisters, Peggy Lannie, Penny Fickling, and Sonya DeLury; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and life long friends. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Serenity Funeral Home with visitation at 2 PM, followed by service in the chapel at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, his daughters request that donations be made to the Dystonia Research Foundation at Dystonia-Foundation.org.
