Charles Christopher Portella

Charles Christopher Portella, age 68, passed away May 29, 2022 in Mobile, AL. A visitation will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Serenity Funeral Home from 1-3 PM with a chapel service to follow at 3 PM. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens. Mr. Portella served his nation by serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He later began his career at the University of South Alabama where he worked for 36 years and retired as a Assistant Director of Utilities. He loved old classic cars, especially his 1967 El Camino. He enjoyed playing his harmonica, spending time at the beach, and with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter Gabriel Portella, Sr. and Evelyn Delois Lane Portella; and brother, Peter G. Portella, Jr. Mr. Portella is survived by his wife, Debbie Palmer Portella; daughters, April Maria Saville and Mary Helen Portella (Walker); brothers, Dennis M. Portella (Mary Ellen and her daughter, Amy), Thomas D. Portella (Gwen), and James D. Portella (Kay); sister, Angela Portella Peters (Jerry); grandchildren, Coral Rose Saville, Alexis Ann Morton, Logan Marie Morton, and Alison Jade Morton; great-grandchildren, Damian Reese De la Rosa, Noah Jayden Dortch, and Elias Wayne Sparks; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; other relatives, and friends.
