Charles Norman Nicholson, Sr., a resident of Semmes, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2022, after a lengthy illness. He was born on February 10, 1944, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, to Virgil and Pauline Nicholson, who predeceased him. He is an alumnus of Mississippi State University, proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving 4 years active duty, in addition to serving in the Mississippi Air National Guard. He loved Mississippi State University baseball, basketball, and professional wrestling. He leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, hard work, love, and laughter. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was a truck driver for most of his life and retired from Wright Transportation. He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 60 years, Gloria Nicholson; brother, Jerome Nicholson; children, Norma Clark, Charles Nicholson, Jr. (Cindi), and Paula Williams (Clyde); grandchildren, Summer Carney, Amanda Reyer (Aaron), Chasity Doyle (Josh), Candace Davis (Jonathan), Chaz Williams (Rachel), Gavin Williams, and Emily Williams; great-grandchildren, Kiarra Edwards, John Hayden Strickland, Collin Strickland, Elizabeth Strickland, Ella Strickland, Josiah Doyle, Lily Doyle, Rose Doyle, Hazel Doyle, Joy Doyle, Olivia Reyer, Carmen Reyer, Isabella Davis, Lila Davis, Gage Williams, and Zane Clyde Williams; other relatives, and friends. The family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to Springhill Memorial Hospital staff and physicians. A celebration of Charles' life will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God in Semmes, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
